The Cultural Exchange Programs – Career Training  USA of the US State Department allows graduates with at least 1 year of experience in their major field of study or minimum 3-5 years of practical experience in  another field.

  •  Who is eligible for Career Training Program administered by Zip Travel?

It is intended for graduates with at least 1 year of experience in their major field of study or minimum 3-5 years of practical experience in  another field. You must be at least 20 years old, have advnaced English skills and be prepared to cover the costs of your program and stay in USA.

  •  Duration of the Career Training Program?

It is an all-year-round program and runs for up to 18 months (except for Hospitality and Tourism – up to 12 months)

- IT technology

- Public Administration

- Social Studies

  •  How many hours do I work a week?

Approximately 35 to 40 hours per week. Some are allowed to work beyond the 40 hours when possible and if the US employer is satisfied with their performance. However, working hours is usually subject to weather conditions and tourist turnout due to the nature of the businesses.

  • Do I get paid? How much money will I make?  How often am I paid?

All Internship/Career Training placements are paid placement. The pay can range from US$8.00 per hour to US$12.00 per hour depending on the position, Host Company and location.  Some companies allow interns to work overtime. Interns are usually paid every 2 weeks, though some US employers may choose to pay every week or even on a monthly basis. However, all terms and conditions are specified in the intern/trainee placement.

  •  Where will I be placed?   Who will be my Host Company? What will be the positions?

The US employers are mainly from the hospitality and service industry, such as national parks, hotel chains, famous restaurants, swimming clubs, country clubs and travel plazas. These are situated in the suburbs or outside the major cities and in tourist destinations. Occasionally, there may be placements in larger cities.

  •  How much does the program cost?  When are the fees due?

Total costs and schedule of payments will be discussed by the Zip Travel representative.  A deposit is required upon submission of initial application. Balance of all the fees is due prior to the issuance of DS 2019 Form. This form gives you the right to apply for a J-1 Trainee Visa.

  • What is the role of Zip Travel and the US J-1 sponsor?

Zip Travel has tie ups and partners with US J-1 sponsors, approved by the US Department of State, to administer the Internship USA program in the Philippines. Zip Travel and the J-1 sponsors work closely to provide assistance right from the start when you sign up for the program.
